How to Get Certified at Miracle Leaf® Houston

Before Your Appointment

Have the following ready when you arrive. This shortens your visit and helps the physician complete your certification accurately.

  • Valid government-issued photo ID. Texas residency is required.
  • Medical records that document your qualifying condition.
  • List of current medications and supplements.
  • Method of payment for clinic visit. Texas TCUP does not charge a state-level patient fee separate from the clinic visit fee.
  • For minor patients: a parent or legal guardian must attend.
  • For telehealth visits: a quiet space, a working camera, and a stable internet connection.

The Certification Process

  1. Book your appointment online. Select an in-person visit at our Houston clinic or a telehealth visit where state law permits.
  2. Complete intake paperwork. Bring the checklist above. Allow 15 to 20 minutes for forms before your physician visit.
  3. Meet with a state-licensed Miracle Leaf® physician. The physician reviews your records, discusses your qualifying condition, and confirms eligibility.
  4. Receive your certification. Your physician submits the certification to the state registry on your behalf.
  5. Complete state registration. Once a registered physician adds you to the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT), you can typically purchase low-THC cannabis the same day from a licensed Texas dispensing organization.

Official patient information is published by the Texas Department of Public Safety Compassionate Use Program.

Medical Cannabis FAQ — Texas Compassionate Use Program (CURT)

Is recreational marijuana legal in Texas?

No. Texas operates the Compassionate Use Program (TCUP) for low-THC cannabis only. Recreational possession remains a criminal offense.

How does the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP) work?

TCUP allows qualifying patients to access low-THC cannabis (up to 1% THC by weight). A registered physician must add you to the Compassionate Use Registry of Texas (CURT) — once approved, you can purchase from a licensed dispensing organization.

What conditions qualify in Texas?

Texas TCUP qualifying conditions include epilepsy, seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, spasticity, ALS, autism, terminal cancer, incurable neurodegenerative disease, PTSD, and chronic pain.

What can a Texas TCUP patient possess?

Low-THC cannabis products dispensed by licensed Texas dispensing organizations. THC content is capped at 1% by weight under state law.

Does Texas honor out-of-state medical marijuana cards?

No. Texas does not recognize medical-cannabis reciprocity. Patients must be Texas residents to enroll in CURT.

How long does Texas approval take?

Once a registered physician certifies you in CURT, you can typically purchase low-THC cannabis the same day from a licensed Texas dispensing organization.
